On May 27, 2025, Solaro hosted a Local Water Forum under the European AWARD project, bringing citizens and experts together to explore sustainable water practices. The event emphasized EU Green Deal goals and the importance of reducing, recycling, and reusing water.
Through interactive Mentimeter sessions, attendees learned about the full water cycle, the role of utilities like CAP Group, and practical applications for using rainwater in urban settings—from toilet flushing to street cleaning. Experts from IRIDRA and the Metropolitan City of Milan highlighted how Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) can reduce climate risks and enhance water reuse.
The discussion that followed was lively and solution-focused. Citizens and administrators expressed strong interest in urban-scale aquifer recharge, multifunctional detention basins, and the use of alternative water sources. Communication and awareness were recognized as key for broader public engagement.
