On December 12, 2024, Paderno Dugnano hosted a public meeting to present its role in the European Horizon project AWARD. Organized by the Metropolitan City of Milan and the local municipality, the event showcased how the city is embracing Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for water resilience.

The Via Serra parking area, redesigned with sustainable features, is now a pilot site for the AWARD project and a model for urban adaptation. Experts presented local climate and hydrogeological data, explaining the benefits of green infrastructure in managing heavy rainfall.

Speakers from IRIDRA and CAP Group outlined how NBS can reduce flooding, improve biodiversity, and lower urban temperatures. The event also launched a Citizen Science initiative set for 2025–2026, inviting residents to participate in biodiversity and heat island monitoring. Attendees engaged through interactive polls and were introduced to project merchandise to boost local involvement.
