AWARD Project on Aqua-Valley stand at EUROMED REUSE conference

#1 AWARD Project on Aqua-Valley stand at EUROMED REUSE conference

The Aqua-Valley cluster is involved in the European AWARD project, and the EUROMED REUSE 2024 conference cycle on October 29-30 is an excellent opportunity to share the challenges of this project.

A Platform for Innovative Water Management Solutions

The Aqua-Valley cluster represented the European AWARD project at the EUROMED REUSE 2024 conference, held from October 29-30. This event brought together nearly 300 water management experts and stakeholders, all focused on innovative approaches to water reuse and sustainability. Aqua-Valley's participation presented the goals and advancements of the AWARD project, which aims to reshape how water is managed and utilized across Europe through the integration of alternative water resources.

AWARD’s Mission: Reshaping Water Supply through Alternative Resources

AWARD, a European Union-funded project, is tackling one of the region's most pressing issues: sustainable water resource management. The project  focuses on incorporating alternative water sources into mainstream planning, to insure a resilient and diversified  supply. By building a comprehensive evidence base, AWARD seeks to identify and share best practices and lessons learned on using alternative water sources effectively. The project's focus is on making these resources not only cost-effective but also widely accepted by communities and consistently reliable over time.

Aqua-Valley’s Role in the AWARD Project

Aqua-Valley's role within the AWARD project is multifaceted. Leading the Communication and Dissemination Plan in collaboration with OiEau under WP6, Aqua-Valley plays a key role in sharing AWARD’s findings and methodologies with a broad audience of stakeholders. Additionally, Aqua-Valley actively contributes to WP1, WP2, WP3, and WP4, covering areas from baseline analysis to implementing innovative water reuse systems across four demonstration sites. Each demonstration site test specific alternative water resource solutions in real-life scenarios, providing valuable insights for replication accross Europe.

EUROMED REUSE: A Platform to Showcase AWARD’s Progress

The EUROMED REUSE event provided an excellent platform for Aqua-Valley to showcase the AWARD project’s work and discuss its progress with other industry leaders. This interaction not only underscored the critical need for alternative water solutions in Europe but also positioned AWARD as a pioneering project capable of addressing these challenges. The AWARD project’s contributions are timely and essential as Europe continues to experience increased water scarcity and the need for sustainable management practices.

Driving Forward a Sustainable Water Future in Europe

With its commitment to advancing water reuse and sustainable water solutions, AWARD is contributing to Europe’s water resilience. Aqua-Valley and the broader project team are excited to continue sharing insights and progress as they work toward a future where alternative water resources play an essential role in securing Europe’s water resilience.
