AWARD Learning Days 2026: Building Skills for Climate-Resilient Water Management

AWARD Learning Days - Announce

The AWARD project is pleased to announce the AWARD Learning Days 2026, a two-day training event dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to water management in a context of increasing climate and environmental pressures.

Taking place on 8–9 October 2026, the Learning Days will bring together students, researchers and young professionals interested in water resources, environmental engineering, climate adaptation, urban planning and related disciplines.

As water scarcity, extreme weather events and growing demands on water systems continue to challenge communities across Europe, there is an increasing need for approaches that combine technical innovation, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. Through its activities, the Horizon Europe AWARD project explores how Alternative Water Resources (AWR) can contribute to more resilient and sustainable water management.

The Learning Days form part of AWARD’s commitment to supporting knowledge transfer and capacity building on Alternative Water Resources. By bringing together students, researchers and practitioners, the event aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and contribute to the development of future professionals able to address Europe’s evolving water challenges.

Over two days, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore innovative approaches to climate-resilient water management;
  • Discover how Alternative Water Resources can support future water security;
  • Learn about governance, planning and decision-support approaches;
  • Engage with experts from academia, research organisations and industry;
  • Take part in interactive learning activities and practical exercises;
  • Exchange experiences with participants from different countries and disciplinary backgrounds.

The event combines scientific, technical and governance perspectives, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of water management challenges. It will feature contributions from experts representing several AWARD partners, including OiEau, Université Paris-Saclay, the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB), BDGroup and InterSus.

The AWARD Learning Days are primarily intended for:

  • Master students;
  • PhD candidates;
  • Advanced students;
  • Young professionals and early-career researchers;

with an interest in water management, environmental sciences, engineering, sustainability, climate adaptation, urban planning, data analysis and related fields.

Registration is now open and participation is free of charge. A detailed programme and session schedule will be published in the coming weeks. We look forward to welcoming participants from across Europe.
